2024
A small trip to Bonn to visit the former capital’s museum and Froscon.
The (Football) Euros 2024 in Germany: Munich and Frankfurt, sandwiched in between a Linux nerd fest in Tübingen: Tübix and some art in Berlin’s Alte Nationalgalerie. I got to go to the final of the Euro 2024 as well, it was exciting! I attented seven matches of the Euro 2024 altogether.
The Principality of Liechtenstein, an alpine microstate sandwiched in between Austria and Switzerland.
A great visit to Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria:
I flew to Split, a stunning city by the Adria: I was wandering the old town, Diocletian’s palace, went to the big Croatian football derby, and then took the train to Zagreb. There I enjoyed great cake and the New Wave Museum. Ljubljana is a small and very walkable city with a great history of being the most liberal place in the socialist bloc, hence it still has surprisingly many undergrondy things to offer. Klagenfurt was a convenient stopover on the way home, it is sleepy and small, but postcard-beautiful.
Saarland was the last state of Germany I hadn’t visited. The photos are all from Völklingen Ironworks.
Some excellent paintings in the exhibition Mythos Spanien at Kunsthalle München and more at Pinakothek der Moderne. The Chinese multimedia artist Cao Fei shows some of her work in Lenbachaus.
2023
I dodged the Christmas bullet in 2023 by visiting Belgrade: I was lucky to catch the Eternal Derby between Partizan and Red Star, visit the excellent Museum of Yugoslavia with Tito’s grave, and indulge in food and craft beer.
Bonn in 2023: some nice Deutscha Bahn ads and a lot of great exhibits at the #DeutschlandDigital temporary exhibition in Bonn’s Haus der Geschichte.
Malta and Cyprus in November, an excellent month to visit these islands.
Some impressions from Vilnius, Lithuania, e. g. the Rock in the Soviet Union exhibition with some Punk items.
Exhibitions in Munich: The excellent Fruhtrunk exhibitation in Lenbachhaus, Mechanical keyboards galore, Trikont at Haus der Kunst, Brandhorst Museum, Halle 6, Gerhard Seyfried.

Portugal: Sintra is a town, a municipality, and a mountain range really close to Lisbon. It is really quite green because of its location. We only spent a day in Lisbon this time.
The fabulous 9-Euro-Ticket allowed Germany-wide travel in regional trains for three months in 2022. I used it a lot:

Iguazu and its stunnign waterfalls.
Ushuaia claims is the southernmost city of the world, yet it is only as South as e. g. Northern Germany is North, its climate and light thus felt quite like home and the impressive mountains gave it a Swiss feel. Rich South Americans go there for skiing, affluent Europeans to embark on a trip to Antarctica.
The Perito Moreno glacier is a stunning spectacle, it is a calving glacier: ice collapses frequently, the glacier is sighing and cracking.
